The WCB thanks physiotherapists for helping injured workers return to work
May is National Physiotherapy Month and the Workers Compensation Board of Prince Edward Island wishes to thank Island physiotherapists for the essential role they play in promoting a safe and timely return to work for injured workers.
“Remaining active, productive and connected to the workplace can be beneficial to the recovery process,” said Nancy Guptill, Chair of the Workers Compensation Board. “We appreciate all the work our physiotherapists do to help to improve the physical function and well-being of our injured workers.”
Assisting a worker in returning to work after an injury is a collaborative process and health care providers are important members of the team. Physiotherapists can make a difference in the lives of injured workers in many ways by:
• Providing appropriate care plans with treatment goals.
• Encouraging self-directed care.
• Developing home exercise programs.
• Assisting with functional ability information for modified duties and ease back programs.
• Recognizing the importance of a stay at work plan.
• Promoting overall well-being with a goal of a safe and timely return to the workplace.
