The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) is pleased to announce three new members have been appointed to the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Advisory Council for a three year term (April 1, 2016-March 31, 2019).

“Members of the OHS Advisory Council provide great insight and advice to the Workers Compensation Board on matters of workplace safety legislation,” said Stuart Affleck, Chair of the Workers Compensation Board. “Members are appointed through the Engage PEI process and reflect a breadth of knowledge and experience relating to the principles and promotion of occupational health and safety.”

In addition to three new appointments, there were several reappointments made to the Occupational Health and Safety Council.

Scott Ryan, of Charlottetown, was reappointed as Employer Representative for a 3rd consecutive term, from December 31, 2014-December 31, 2017

The OHS Council consists of the WCB Chair, the WCB Director of OHS, three members representing workers, three members representing employers and one person representing the general public. Applicants were chosen through a fair and equitable process as part of the Engage PEI initiative and represent a balanced approach in geographic representation. The expiry dates are different to allow for continuity of knowledge on the Council.

The Workers Compensation Board would like to offer their sincere gratitude to the long-standing outgoing council members James Steele, Fred Quinn and Janet Harper who have served on the OHS Advisory Council since 2008.
