Workers Compensation Board of Prince Edward Island

Safety video contest open to high school students

February 03, 2020

The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) has launched its annual high school safety video contest. Any high school student from across Prince Edward Island can enter the contest for a chance to win $1,000, and another $1,000 for their school.

The Focus on Safety Video Contest challenges students to create a two minute video to highlight the importance of working safely and speaking up about their workplace safety rights and responsibilities.

The video contest is part of a nation-wide initiative of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS). The provincial winning entry will be automatically entered in the national contest in April.

“Teaching our youth about workplace safety is a must,” said WCB Chair Jim MacPhee. “This generation will become our future employers and workers and the earlier they understand the importance of working safely, the safer our future workplaces will be.”

Video submissions will be accepted until March 31, 2020. For more information, including rules and contest entry forms, visit the WCB website at www.wcb.pe.ca/Workplace/Programs.
