New Resources for Workers and Employers
We are pleased to share the release of three new guides and one updated resource to further support the health and safety of Island workplaces. The new and updated materials include: NEW – Cold Stress Prevention Guide NEW – Information for Employers – What you Need to Know NEW – WHMIS for PEI Workplaces UPDATED – Information for Workers – What you Need to Know These resources provide easy-to-follow guidance to help employers and workers identify hazards, understand their responsibilities, and take effective steps to prevent injuries.

The WCB launches new resources to support Island workers and employers
Charlottetown, March 5, 2026– The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) has developed three new guides and has updated a fourth resource to support the health and safety of Island workers and employers. The new and updated resources are free, easy to use and are available at wcb.pe.ca. “The WCB provides leadership in building safe and healthy workplaces,” said Dan Campbell, CEO of the WCB. “One of the ways we do this is by developing resources and making them available to all Island employers and workers. Providing accessible reference materials is an important part of strengthening workplace safety culture across Prince Edward Island.” The new and updated resources include: NEW - Cold Stress Prevention Guide NEW - Information for Employers - What You Need to Know NEW - WHMIS for PEI Workplaces UPDATED - Information for Workers - What You Need to Know (in English) and Information pour les Information pour les travailleuses et travailleurs – ce qu’il faut savoir (in French) “These resources offer practical guidance to help workplaces recognize hazards, meet their responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and take effective steps to prevent injuries,” said Danny Miller, Director of the WCB’s Occupational Health and Safety Division. “Whether it’s understanding cold-stress risks or implementing effective WHMIS practices, these tools support safer, healthier workplaces.” The WCB offers a wide variety of resources like publications on legislation and regulations, comprehensive industry-specific guides, FAQs, printable workplace posters and more. Background Information: Cold Stress Prevention Guide Working in cold conditions is a reality for many Prince Edward Island workers, whether outdoors in winter or indoors in cold storage environments. The updated Cold Stress Prevention Guide provides practical guidance to help employers identify and control cold-stress hazards while meeting requirements under PEI’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations. Information for Employers - What You Need to Know This guide provides an overview of the WCB’s programs and services for employers and helps workplaces better understand their roles in preventing injuries and responding when incidents occur. It includes information on WCB coverage, registration, industry classification, the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act,) reporting a workplace injury and more. English version - Information for Workers - What You Need to Know French version - Information pour les Information pour les travailleuses et travailleurs – ce qu’il faut savoir This guide provides an overview of the WCB’s programs and services for workers. It includes information on work related injuries, returning to work, benefits, the OHS Act and more. This is guide is available in English and French. WHMIS for PEI Workplaces The WHMIS for PEI Workplaces guide supports employers and workers in implementing effective Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System programs, in alignment with PEI’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Hazardous Products Act.
