WCB hosts Workplace Health & Safety Conference
The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) of Prince Edward Island is holding its Workplace Health & Safety Conference on April 27, 2012, at the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown. The conference is an excellent opportunity for anyone with an interest in workplace safety to gain valuable knowledge, and to develop effective health and safety networks.
“It is vitally important to have a forum to discuss occupational health and safety issues and best practices,” said Nancy Guptill, Chair of the Workers Compensation Board. “Through learning and sharing knowledge, both at the conference and in the workplace, we will further the culture of safety for all Islanders. “
Burn survivor, author and safety professional, Spencer Beach, will deliver the key note address, in which he will describe his first-hand experience of the importance of workplace safety. Mr. Beach is known across the country for his compelling story of survival after a devastating occupational accident, and for his talent in making workplace safety a reality for his audiences.
The conference includes a trade show and workshops on a variety of safety topics relevant to Island workplaces. Conference topics include: fall protection; eye safety; mould in the workplace; stress management; hazard identification and assessment; vulnerable workers; positive safety culture; the power to believe; electrical safety; and return to work programs.
More information about healthy and safety information is available in the safe workplaces section of the WCB website or by contacting the WCB office.
