PROGRAMMER ANALYST
FULL-TIME TEMPORARY POSITION
(beginning immediately for approximately 1 year, with possible extension)
The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) helps to build safe and healthy workplaces in PEI and provides benefits and services to reduce the impact of work-related injuries and illnesses.
The Programmer Analyst is required to provide support coverage for the WCB Website, WCB E-Services, WCB Intranet and all legacy applications. The Programmer Analyst position also provides internal technology planning and support services by applying investigative, analytical and design skills to a variety of applications. Working under a moderate level of supervision, the analyst will use a variety of technology tools to produce properly engineered and tested solutions in meeting defined business requirements.
The Programmer Analyst reports to the IT Applications Supervisor. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Providing technical troubleshooting support of the WCB Website/E-Services and internal legacy systems to internal/external clients via telephone, email or other methods.
- Providing backup support for E-Services Coordinator for all web applications, intranet, and external service provider liaison functions.
- Updating website static content changes (applying HTML coding to textual data).
- Deploying approved Website/Online Services releases to production environment, including supporting build process documentation.
- Interacting with a Drupal content management system to deploy technical changes.
- Diagnosing, testing and resolving technical problems.
- Participating in the development and implementation of information technology solutions including coding, data conversion, functional testing, and software installations and configurations.
- Contributing to the development of an effective IT Services team.
- Performing other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Business Information Processing/ Technology, Computer Science or related field. This position requires 1-3 years of experience in an information technology position.
Applicants must have experience in providing IT support to internal/external clients. Experience in programming with Powerbuilder, .Net languages such as C# and Visual Basic, Angular, Solr, Keycloak and OpenSSL are considered essential. Applicants should have a good understanding of SQL and relational databases. Applicants should also have experience in maintaining Web pages and formatting text using HTML. A demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software and to quickly identify and resolve computer program problems is essential.
Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered and must be clearly articulated in the application process.
Bilingual in both French and English would be considered an asset.
A satisfactory criminal records check is required for this position.
