Workers Compensation Board of Prince Edward Island

Workplace Injury

The WCB protects employers and workers from the results of workplace injuries with a no-fault insurance system. This system provides financial and medical benefits to injured workers while protecting employers from lawsuits resulting from workplace injury or illness.

While every effort should be taken to create a safe workplace, if an injury occurs, as an employer, you are responsible to:
  • Report the injury and make sure your worker gets medical attention or physiotherapy if required.
  • Keep in contact with your injured worker and the WCB throughout the claim process.
  • Work with the WCB to help your injured worker return to work in a safe and timely manner.
  • Provide suitable employment that is safe, within the worker’s physical capabilities, and restores the worker’s pre-injury earnings as closely as possible.
  • Provide the WCB with information about your worker’s return to work.
Post the WCB In Case of Injury poster (available in English or en Français) so that everyone in your workplace knows what to do in case of an injury.
