Workers Compensation Board of Prince Edward Island

Survivor Benefits

If a worker dies as a result of a compensable work-related accident, injury or illness, the WCB will assist with burial costs, and survivor benefits may also be paid to a spouse, a child under the age of 18, or a dependant of the deceased worker.

The WCB provides an allowance of $15,000 for memorial services, burials or cremations. A spouse, child or sole dependant will also be paid a lump sum payment equal to 100% of the maximum annual earnings in the year the death occurred.

More information is available in the WCB policy on survivor benefits. If you can not find what you are looking for, please contact us.
