When a work-related injury or illness happens, the WCB works with workers, employers, and health care providers to achieve worker recovery and stay at work or return to work in a safe and timely way.

Health care providers have an important role in the WCB claim process. In addition to assessment and treatment, health care providers are also responsible for:

• Reporting the work-related injury or illness to the WCB.
• Providing objective information related to the injury or illness, functional or psychological abilities and estimated recovery times.
• Maintaining ongoing communication and collaboration with the WCB.
